One Month

Okay it's not exactly one month- but tomorrow is October and if anyone should be able to count the days and round down a little bit- I think it should be me. ;) Katie, Carrie and Nikki threw me an amazing shower this weekend- pictures are to come so I won't get to into the details in this post- but suffice it to say that something happened that day beyond eating a bunch of ice cream and fried pickles. I left feeling giddy about becoming a mom and meeting our little boy in just a month- again- no need to get into details as far as dates go. Things are becoming so real as we add the finishing touches to the nursery (more pics to come) and as we talk more and more about what it will be like when baby Davis gets here.

Now I am going to make a few observations- mainly so I will have these to remember in years to come. This is a short list of things that I have been into or have been thinking about during this last part of my pregnancy.

I couldn't love yellow Gatorade more.
I feel HUGE. Huge like a person that has a whole human inside of them.
I keep dreaming about baby Davis- which is so much fun.
I for the first time really crave chocolate- which I could have done without. THANKS.
It's tricky to sleep now. I pee about 8 times a night and roll around twice as much.
I look at babies and kids in a completely different way- though I still have low tolerance for the ones that behave like little shits. Of course baby Davis will be different. HA.
I'm so thankful it's getting cooler- I can't wait for it to really feel like fall.
I look at big Davis differently and can't wait to see him as a dad.
I'm so glad I will have a new baby and time off during the holiday season.
Red meat is amazing.
It feels so right that we're having a little boy.
As excited as I am about the baby- I am so glad Davis and I have had so many years to spend together first.

That's all for now. More to come!
Sam

Davis is 30

It's crazy to think that my sweet husband and best friend has hit the big 30. He was amazing when I met him and has only gotten better with time. I'm glad to call him mine. Here are some pics from his party last Friday. We had a great time- the night started with hot dogs and cupcakes at Frank and then we went to Donn's Depot for music, dancing and black jack. Good times were had by all- it seemed from the one sober person there! :)

Chinese Delivery?

I've been having dreams about little Davis more frequently as we continue to get closer to his upcoming birthday. Last night, I had a dream that I was in China for work, and of course I went into labor while there. Davis was doing his best to get himself to The Orient, but alas, I was left to have our baby alone in China, with a seemingly underage doctor. The labor really wasn't so bad- except that I was sitting in what seemed like a church pew when it happened, AND it was a completely new way to deliver (which I'll spare you). Regardless, baby Davis came out kicking and screaming and then I got to play with him for awhile. It was like a fun little preview- just the playing with him part. I'll just die if anything similar to the rest of the dream happens in real life.

Anyway- the dream ended with a severe calf cramp (in real life) and me jacking big Davis in the forehead with my elbow around 4:30 a.m. The moral of this story is: eat more bananas.

Firsts

Just went to 7 Eleven to get some water and the cash register lady reached across the counter and rubbed my belly. Had to share.

DIY

I, Sam Bennett, on the 10th of September in the year of 2009, hereby declare victory over the Baby Davis DIY Dresser Project. Thanks to those of you who helped me get to this point- I couldn't have done it without you.

P.S. Just missing a few knobs.

Long Overdue

I've been saying I would post these pictures for a while and I just got around to scanning them. These are the two most clear pictures we've had. The first is a 3D shot of his face- sort of a profile. Look at those cheeks. The 2nd is like he is lying on his side looking at you with his little hands in fists up by his neck. He looks a little ghost-like here- I think it's the bad lighting in there- but I am fully convinced he will come out looking like a real boy! :)

The first picture was done in July and the second one was done about 3 weeks ago. So just imagine how different he looks now! We cannot wait to meet him.

1st Delivery

Imagine our excitement and surprise last week when we stumbled upon a giant box at our doorstep with this fabulous gift inside! Things instantly felt more real when we opened it up and tried it out on our "test baby" the sleep sheep. Like Jeanne said "Here's to getting him home safely..."

30 Weeks

It's not that I never thought I would get here- I mean I hoped and planned on getting to 30 weeks- but it still feels like an unreal milestone. When people have told me before that they are 30 weeks pregnant, I have thought to myself "Geez. That's really pregnant. That baby could be here at any time." And now I'm 30 weeks pregnant. Here is what it feels like...

1) exciting like christmas
2) a little geriatric when i bend in certain ways
3) round
4) the end of an era (young coupledom)
5) full- i've gotten to the point where even eating for one feels uncomfortable
6) grown up
7) very real with all of his motion (rolling, kicking, the lot)
8) crazy exciting- i know i said that before- but it's almost all i can think about

I'm really thankful that I'm going to have some time off with baby Davis during the holidays. It's my favorite time of year and I always try to get "in the spirit" as early as possible- so I can only imagine that that will be very easy this year. I'll probably even be one of those sappy callers on "Delilah"- the all christmas song radio station for the month of December- this year. HA!
