Tiny Things Are So Fun

A couple pics of some must haves we've found for little Davis and a shot of the bedding. Rooms pics coming soon- though its still very much a work in progress. We have a few DIY projects up our sleeves that are really going to take it up a notch. :)

24 Week Update

Just got back from a marathon appointment- and we're thrilled to share that everything checked out so fine with little Davis Bennett. We measured and looked at everything from his brain and heart to his mouth and nose- and even got a little 3D shot of the face. It certainly looks like he has his dad's mouth- I have seen big Davis make that face or at least that mouth- a million times before. And he sure has chubby cheeks- which will be fun! Aside from that fun stuff- we were both just relieved to hear that all the parts are there and working the way they should be. Thank God! He is about 1 pound and 8 ounces at this point, and in the 50th percentile for size. Oh, and we signed up for childbirthing classes and registered for the hospital- so it's all starting to feel very real.

And a sideways shot of me in the waiting room. 24 down, 16 to go, and time is flying!

Davis vs. Fan

Davis is handy. Davis has single-handedly re-built our fence this summer, is working on repairing some roofing, is capable of almost anything around the house...and yet we have uncovered his home maintenance nemesis- the fan. After installing two fans in the living room (one was faulty- or at least that is the story we're sticking with) Davis took on installing a smaller fan in little Davis's room yesterday. I'm posting this picture to serve as a reminder that there are many challenges in life- but if you persevere- the fruits of your labor will be seen. Moving air is possible. HA!

And P.S.

Davis is moving like a crazy man. Almost every single night between 9 and midnight, and then randomly throughout the morning. It's become so strong (compared to the initial movements) that Davis and I often joke about how he must be working out in there.

My Davis (current or big Davis) will sometimes set up a circuit in our bathroom and closet area and I'll find him doing rotations of sit-ups with weights, push-ups, and even pull-ups in the closet doorway thanks to his moveable bar. Anyway- I feel quite certain that little Davis is doing the same thing.

And he's probably wearing wristbands, running in place, while listening to "He's a maniac, maniac, on the floor..."

Pinewood Derby

Today was the Pinewood Derby race at GSD&M. The minute I heard about this- I was very excited- and the reality of the race was even better than I imagined. After much rallying, I got a few girlfriends to compete as well, so we had a really good time talking trash to each other prior to the race. My car is the white Grease Lightning car- and considering the fact that we started on it THE NIGHT BEFORE the race- I was pleased with our showing. Of course, knowing what I know now, next year our call will be a real contender.

The great thing is that when Davis gets old enough to compete in a pinewood derby- we'll have many years of experience.

John Wayne

For those of you who have been waiting with bated breath- I am proud to announce that I came out victorious in the family poker tournament this weekend- for the 2nd year in a row. While the victory was not nearly as climactic as last year when I beat my smack talking uncle's full house with 4 Jacks (on the river) it still felt good to clean house. In addition to cash prizes, this year a John Wayne trophy was at stake, so thank God I pulled through for the win.

The tournament was clearly the high point of the weekend- but all in all- we had a great July 4th holiday- complete with sparklers and Davis and I marching around my mom's pool singing "God Bless America".

Hope you all had a great weekend too!
