Upon Further Review...

We just got back from our 16 week appointment and got some surprising news! Before starting the sonogram, Davis and I excitedly told the young nurse that we were probably having a girl, the sonographer had given us a prediction she believed was 75% accurate, I mean we went on and on about it. The young nurse smiles, nods and squirts the cold gel on my belly and then proceeds to rub the wand around as though searching for oil. All of a sudden the head comes into focus, and then the perfect little spine, and then, all of the sudden… Davis SHOUTS “THAT’S A BOY!!!” He and the nurse quickly look at each other and then she sheepishly says “Sorry, I’m not sure why they would have told you it was a girl, it's definitely a boy." Davis must have called out at least 4 or 5 times that it was a boy… excited, yet shocked all at the same time.

I think Niles put it best when he said that if that little boy is anything like Davis- then that was his first, but definitely not last, prank on the rest of us. :)

The moral of today's story is: don't believe it till you see it.

In the Navy

How cute is this room? I just love navy these days- it's my new favorite color. And that is saying a lot because I usually keep a favorite color for a while. In fact, I kept my last two favorites for a decade (pink, then green).

Clothes

Clothes are getting trickier these days. In fact, my jeans fit comfortably earlier this week and today, today I feel like I'm wearing someone else's clothes. I'm wearing a bella band for the first time- which is basically a tight white band that goes around your waist and allows you to leave your jeans unbuttoned and even unzipped. I'll admit, my jeans are still buttoned. I'm modest that way, and I felt like everyone at work would know if they were undone, so I'm basically using the band like a maternity version of Spanx. Just trying to hold it all in and get through the phase where no one can tell if you're pregnant or if you've just started working on a beer belly.

Frankly

I'm getting a little bit nervous about feeling the baby move.
If you know me at all, you know I've always hated frogs, and mainly because you never know when they're going pop out of a railroad tie and catch you unaware.

That is what I think of when my friends tell me excitedly that I'm going to feel the baby move any day now. It's probably not the right thing to think as a mother, it sure isn't the cute thing to think, but if I'm writing this blog, I might as well be frank.

And don't get me wrong, when it happens, I'll be thrilled that she's healthy and moving around in there, but frankly, I do worry a little bit about the total shock of it and the fact that I might feel a bit like an alien afterwards.

Little Shoes

How cute are these shoes? I especially love the little red and pink ones. Good find, Nikki!

Plover Organics

These are some linens I've had my eye on for a while- courtesy of Red. They are organic and mix and matchable. My favorite is actually the navy in the lower right hand corner- but as we have a lot of blues and greens in our house already- maybe we'll go another route. Regardless, it is clear to me that an upholstered rocker in pink velvet is a necessity.

First Purchase

Davis sent me a one line email after our appointment the other day that said "I'm going to buy this for our baby daughter." And I'm not sure which is cuter- the hat or the fact that Davis picked this out on etsy for the soon to be little Bennett. He is great.
