Weekend in Fred

Davis and I went to Fredericksburg this weekend to work on a DIY project for little Davis' room. When I first purchased it, it was a white dresser with tacky maroon colored dresser knobs. Here are a couple pictures...the final image will be posted later this week. We're ALMOST done.

Milkshakes

davis and i went for a late dinnner last night to the new p.terry's in our neighborhood. we had grass-fed beef burgers, some fries, and then shared a strawberry milkshake- my favorite! i think these treats taste twice as good knowing that come december i'm going to be cutting these pregnancy indulgences and kicking it into high gear to get back in shape. but for now- carpe diem- even if i'm simply seizing a sweet strawberry milkshake!

If You Wouldn't Mind...

So it's crazy to be thinking about where little Davis will stay or who will stay with Davis when I go back to work when we hasn't even been born yet- but I guess you really have to plan for these things in advance. Anyway, after much research, Davis and I found a little daycare in downtown Austin that we both really like and so far feel pretty comfortable with (the atmosphere is fun and cozy, we've had lots of referrals, the people there seem genuinely happy, it's small and Austin-like...it reminds Davis of his school in Woodstock New York, and it's right down the street from both of our jobs). So we put our name on their waiting list way back in March and we've been hoping that we would get in for their spring semester and that we would continue to feel good about that as top option (also looking into nannies, etc). Today I called to check in and see where we are standing on their waiting list in comparison with how many slots they will have open- and it's not sounding too promising.

She said they are only having 1-2 slots open at that time and the wait list is long. I sort of prodded and asked where we stood on that list and while she didn't answer specifically, she did say "Well, we're going to know in mid-October, so I will call YOU when I know..."

So I think instead of being glad that I am an excited mom- the lady was totally agitated and probably instead put a yellow post-it on our page that said "annoying mom".

It probably doesn't sound like a big deal except that, well, it is a big deal. It's the biggest deal that Davis can feel happy and cared for otherwise no way am I going to be able to go back to work and feel happy and like i'm being a good mom. Long story short, I'm feeling really bummed about this- so just asking that if anybody out there is reading this, if you wouldn't mind throwing a prayer out to the heavens that little Davis will end up at this little daycare if he is supposed to be there...or if not, that there is an even better plan that I am currently unaware of.

Thanks friends.

We Passed

Little Davis and I passed the glucose test with flying colors. Yahoo! I feel like we're getting a successful start together. We are 29 weeks on Thursday and today was the first time his face looked like a baby's in the sonogram- so fun to see! Big, round cheeks, pouty lips, and he was constantly trying to get his thumb in his mouth. It was fun to watch! I'll post the pics after I scan them.

He is 3 pounds right now and still right on track with his weight/size for an 11/12 due date. We'll see...

Best Aunt

Nikki brought Davis some of the cutest little outfits from Denmark. I can't wait to see him in his little black and white checked linen shirt with mis-matched plaid shorts...so cute! He'll have his savvy globe-trekking aunt to thank for his worldly style. Pictures to come.

Preview?

These are two of my favorite pictures of Davis. Looking at them now and thinking about how baby Davis might eventually look very similar to this funny little guy is so exciting. If he's even half as cute- he'll be adorable.

Three Months and Counting

Yesterday marked three months until our quickly approaching due date of November 12th. We are getting so excited- it's just about all I can think about. Here are a few things I am looking forward to...

1) Seeing his cute little face- I am now visualizing him pretty clearly- whether right or wrong I see him with blonde hair, blue eyes, and very chubby cheeks. I think it's both the 3D picture (which I know I still need to post) paired with the fact that both Davis and I have pretty round faces. I like to think that our faces are made for smiling- which is basically a nice way to say we have chubby cheeks too.

2) Feeling his soft skin- especially his cheeks (both sets), his tummy and his feet

3) Moving him into his little room

4) Watching him learn to laugh and smile

5) Watching him play with Pico and Paxton

6) Eventually taking him swimming

And that's just to name a few things! I can't wait for November to get here- but I'm sure it will be here before we know it!

The Beach

It's that time of year again- time to pack 18 guys and girls in a 3 story sherbet colored house off the beautiful coast of Port Aransas. Time for volleyball games on the beach- complete with victory laps for each good play- dance parties on the third floor- an endless supply of pigs in a blanket- vegging all day on the beach- covering each other with sand while playing "do, date or marry"- and non-stop laughter over telephone pictionary.

This is our second annual trip and while it will be different for me in the fact that keg stands are out and my wearing a swimsuit and feeling "round" has a whole new meaning- I'm still looking forward to an amazing time with great friends.

These pictures are from last year. This year I will not be wearing someone's random scarf as a head piece in EVERY picture.

Green Eggs and Ham

Hi! I'm Sam. Yesterday Davis and I made green eggs and ham. And pancakes. They were DELICIOUS.
